자연과 동물을 사랑하던 로리나 맥케니트는 수의사가 되었고

그녀의 천부적 재질중 하나가 음악 사랑이었다. 수많은 음악을 들으며
수많은 악기를 다루던 그녀는 특히 켈틱 하프의 마력에 사로잡힌다.

아일랜드 음악의 집중탐구 끝에 그녀는 Ont　ario/Stratford 로 진출
Folk Club 가에서 하프와 노래를 연주하기 시작, Toronto 에선

거리의 악사로(Street Musician) 나서는 등 자작곡을 선보이며

스스로프로모션 투어에 나서게 된셈이 되었다.

이후 그녀는 자신의 레이블(Quinlanroad)을 설립 85년 데뷔 앨범을
(Elemental) 발표하기에 이르고, 91년 4집(The Visit)으로 캐나다의
그래미로 일컫는 "Juno Award"를 수상 일약 스타덤에 오른다.

2004년 위니펙 포크 페스티벌"에서 평생공로상

(Golden Banjo Award/Lifetime Achievement)을 수상,

명실공히 캐나다의 국보급 뮤지션으로 자리 매김한다.

(레너드 코헨/조니 미첼/닐 영/고든 라잇훗)등과 함께...

2002년 마니토바에서 열린, Queen Elizabeth ll(빅토리아 여왕 즉위
축제)가 참석했던 어전 공연에 Headline Performer 로 연주, 2002년
Wilfrid Laurier University 에서 명예 문학박사 학위를 받았으며

2003년 7월 마니토바주를 빛낸 인물로 선정 훈장(Order of Manitoba)을 받았다.

그녀는 또한 "깨끗한 바다 지키기"(Cook Rees Memorial Fund) 재단과
자연보호협회"(Three Oaks Foundation)을 설립, 우리돈 40억 정도의
기금을 조성(자신의 음반/공연수익중 거액을 헌납)한 아름다운 사람이다.
